Karl-Erik Ekselius for J.O. Carlsson Teak Credenza

Description

Mid-Century credenza by Karl-Erik Ekselius for J.O. Carlsson. This teak beauty rises on stretcher joined legs on which sit the case and is separated into three sections. On the left the recessed panel door (as are they all) opens to reveal six slide-out drawers. The spacious right-hand compartment with adjustable shelving can be removed for deeper storage. The middle compartment is narrower version of the right side with adjustable shelving as well.

The exterior of the case and all doors were scrubbed/stripped of a bad stain/oil, sanded and oiled with proper teak oil. The piece had lock mechanisms with no keys and this had no leverage for opening the doors and so small tasteful brass pulls that fit within the lock keyhole were put in place to help open the doors. Original lock mechanisms still in place.

A very practical stately teak credenza with tons of storage. Oh, and a finished back so it doesn’t need to be placed against a wall! (Photos to come.)
